Our board The 826 Boston Corporate Advisory Council will serve as an advisory group to the organization. Unlike the Board of Directors, it will not have legal or fiduciary obligations. In its first year, the Council will start as a small cohort that will inform the growth of the entity moving forward. Building 826 Boston’s base of corporate relationships and increasing support from the many thriving industries in the Boston area has long been a goal of the organization. Simultaneously, 826 Boston has found success in leveraging relationships to expand other areas of its work.

Goals of the Corporate Advisory Council include:
-Build new relationships and networks in the business community in Greater Boston
-Establish a greater number of corporate partnerships for financial and volunteer support to enhance organizational sustainability
-Expand beyond board members’ personal networks for fundraising
-Raise visibility and increase awareness of 826 Boston
Position Requirements:

  • Commitment to supporting young people in Boston through committing to 826 Boston’s mission

  • Attend one to two meetings per year


Ways to engage outside of meetings:

  • Make a personal contribution to 826 Boston

  • Connect 826 Boston to your company’s corporate volunteer program; host a College Essay Boot Camp

  • Connect your company to 826 Boston for event sponsorship

  • Introduce new potential partners and supporters to 826 Boston

  • Sponsor a Writers’ Room at a school - volunteer; provide financial support to one of 826 Boston’s four Writers’ Rooms

  • Attend special organizational briefing event once a year

  • Invitation to quarterly gatherings with an author

  • Host a lunch and learn to get co-workers interested in volunteering

  • Help institute a coordinated matching gift effort at your place of work

  • Offer informational interviews to 826 Boston students and service members who are considering jobs in your sector

  • Coordinate in-kind gifts (furniture/technology) to 826 Boston
