Position Real Estate & Building Industry Host Committee

The Real Estate & Building Industry Breakfast Host Committee serves as a leadership and advisory body for United Way’s partnerships within the industry. United Way relies on all committee members as advocates, fundraisers, and strategic thinkers in the continuous advancement of the annual Breakfast.

Committee members share in the vision to bring together those who are building this city and shaping our skyline around an opportunity to fortify Boston’s foundation – through United Way. Through the work of this committee, the industry has invested over $52 million in United Way’s work over the last 28 years – impacting more than 395,000 families in that time.

The Host Committee meets throughout the planning year, with opportunities to learn more and contribute further to United Way’s work throughout. Committee members are responsible for inviting all major Commercial Real Estate firms to sponsor or donate to the Breakfast.

Where During the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will continue to meet on Zoom. Once it is safe to do so, we will consider having different committee members host meetings at their offices.
Commitment 1 to 3 hours/month
Donation Organization requires a specific amount of “give or get” for all board members.
Requirements

  • Attend Committee Meetings: There will be a minimum of four full committee meetings (March, May, July, September) to present and discuss the overall strategy, goals, and action steps. Committee members are expected to attend all meetings, and to come prepared to share outcomes and challenges in their responsibilities.

    • Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, at noon

    • Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, at noon

    • Tuesday, July 12th, 2022, at noon

    • Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, at noon



  • Confirm Company Commitment: All Committee members agree that their company will sponsor or purchase tickets for the Breakfast.

  • Identify and Solicit Event Attendees: Committee members are asked to identify and solicit individuals and/or companies to sponsor or attend the Breakfast. The expected goal is to secure a total of at least $10,000 in ADDITION to committee member’s own company support.

  • Personal Gift: All Committee members are asked to donate a personal gift of $1,250 (the cost of one ticket to the event) or more in support of United Way’s vital work.

  • Attend the Breakfast: Committee members are expected to attend the Real Estate Breakfast and celebrate a successful year of fundraising. Event components include early arrival to attend rally with committee, honoree, and UW staff as an opportunity to great guests during networking time. Committee members are asked to represent their companies and welcome attendees, answer any questions they may have, and encourage conversation about United Way.

On-boarding We will have an initial intake meeting to go over the roles and responsibilities of the committee and answer any questions you might have. After that, any new members will simply start attending group meetings. Everyone starts on the Host Committee, which works alongside the Real Estate & Building Industry Executive Team. After some time on the Host Committee, an individual may be chosen to serve as Vice Chair. During that year, they will join the Executive Team and shadow the Co-Chairs, whose role they will be taking on the following year.
