Our board

The Board of Directors of the nonprofit Cyrus E. Dallin Art Museum currently comprises five individuals including a president, secretary/clerk and interim treasurer.  The board strives to ensure community support and finances that make possible the broadest goals of the museum. They focus on development goals to ensure that it can continue to educate the public on the timeless and invaluable contributions of the genius for whom the museum is named, an artist revered and respected by those who know him around the globe, who made Arlington his family’s home.

Position

The Cyrus E. Dallin Art Museum is an Arlington organization.


Candidates should have knowledge of accounting practices, QuickBooks and/or Zoho, and nonprofit operations. You will be supported by an outside accountant and staff bookkeeping resources.


Responsibilities:


 



  • Review monthly savings account records, reconcile monthly bank statements for the Museum’s operating account, and monitor income and expenditures.

  • Prepare and present periodic reports for the Board of Directors and grantors reviewing the Museum’s performance to budget and project performance to plan.

  • Development of the Museum’s annual budget and fundraising plan in collaboration with other board directors and the Museum’s Director/Curator.

  • Monitor payment and remittance processes to ensure the Museum’s ongoing solvency, make recommendations for asset management, and keep the Board of Directors apprised of the organization’s general fiscal health.

  • Work with the Museum’s accounting firm to ensure the completion of required financial reporting forms (including the IRS Form 990).

  • Provide Municipal Board of Trustees an annual financial report based on the Form 990 filing.

  • Attend monthly meetings of Board of Directors (Monday mornings for one hour at 9:45 am).

Candidate applications will be reviewed by Board members.  We are very interested in adding new board members with fresh insights and the skills we need support with.

The Mission of the Cyrus Dallin Art Museum is to promote new insights into our shared history by exploring the life, work, and values of the celebrated, Utah-born sculptor who lived and worked in Arlington, Massachusetts for over forty years. Guided by Dallin’s own values, we seek to provide uplifting and meaningful experiences that promote a more inclusive understanding of our shared history.
