Our board To advise and lead the YMCA of Metro North whose mission is dedicated to improving the health of mind, body and spirit of individuals and families in our communities. We welcome men, women, boys and girls of all incomes, faiths and cultures. Plan and conduct the work of the Association in conformity with the Association’s bylaws, policies, regulations, and rules. To provide financial leadership to leadership in regards to fund-raising to fulfill its mission and the needs of the community.
Position The YMCA of Metro North is seeking new Directors to serve on our Association's Board.  Duties are as follows:

  • To study the opportunities and challenges of YMN’s service area, plan programs and services to meet those need.

  • To pursue the Association's mission, vision and strategic objectives in its service area through annual objectives.

  • To represent the Association across the service area and develop community relations by active participation in community activities and organizations.

  • To review and provide input in the budget of YMN as prepared by Staff in consultation with the Branch Finance Committee.

  • To protect the properties and assets utilized by the Association by reviewing and approving/overseeing maintenance and repair of properties as well as quality reviews of facilities.

  • To review audits, at least annually, concerning the conduct of YMN’s activities to insure the regular and consistent conduct of activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • To assist in annual and capital fund raising and personally contribute to the Association.

  • To enlist the participation, support, and leadership of the membership by continuous year-round efforts and especially through an annual fundraising campaign.

  • To establish such committees and advisory councils as may be deemed necessary for the conduct of the work of the Association, confirm appointments by the Board Chair to such committees, issue commissions of responsibilities to such committees, and receive reports and evaluate the work of such committees.

  • To establish general rules governing the activities of the Association Board and of its committees.

  • To assist in fulfilling, with the fullest integrity, all legal and financial regulations of the Association and of city, state and federal law.

  • Provide support and consultation to the Leadership of YMN.

Additional Info The YMCA of Metro North, headquartered in Peabody, MA,  was established in 2012 when the Greater Lynn YMCA including the Saugus Family YMCA and Peabody/Lynnfield YMCA merged with the Melrose Family YMCA to combine resources and better serve our communities. Our association now stands seven locations strong, serving the cities and towns of Lynn, Peabody, Saugus, Melrose, Stoneham, Revere, Nahant, Lynnfield and neighboring communities. Currently, the YMCA of Metro North serves over 60,000 people annually and in 2018 provided approximately $1,163,880 in financial aid to more than 14,000 individuals and families in our communities.
