| Our board | The board of directors has four primary responsibilities: * Mission: create a clear, succinct mission statement that expresses the organization’s core values and reason for being and revisit this mission regularly, revising if necessary *Oversight: establish appropriate checks and balances to ensure the organization is well managed and its mission is carried out *Resource development: ensure the organization has the financial and human resources it needs to fulfill its mission *Outreach: connect with the external community to promote the organization’s mission, values, and programs (e.g. through recruiting new board members, volunteers, and donors; expanding the organization’s network of supporters) The BalletRox Board currently consists of 9 members, but is looking to expand. We welcome new members, and encourage participation in one of our four standing committees: Development/Fundraising; Administration and Finance; Governance; Programs and Productions. | Position | Board Members At-Large participate fully in all Board functions and decision making, and are eligible to become Officers by election at the Annual Meeting. All Board members serve on at least one Standing Committee, and may serve on ad-hoc committees. The Standing Committees are: Administration and Finance Committee: With the Officers and Staff, responsible for development and oversight of: Budgets; Financial Reports; Annual Financial Reviews and Statements; Tax Filings; Personnel, including Employment Decisions and Compensation; Insurance Coverages; and Policies and Procedures. Development Committee: With the Officers and Staff, responsible for development, implementation, and oversight of: Fundraising Activities, including Events; Donor Identification and Cultivation; Grants and Contracts; Social Media Programs and Productions Committee: With the Officers and Staff, responsible for development and oversight of: Boston Public Schools Program; BalletRox Dance! Program; Recitals and Performances Governance Committee: With the Officers and Staff, responsible for development and oversight of: New Board Identification and Recruitment; Board Evaluations; Recruitment and Evaluation of Executive Director |

| Requirements | Board members are expected to support BalletRox's mission, attend Board meetings, serve on a standing committee, assist in all Fundraising efforts, provide oversight to all aspects of the organization, participate in events, and make a personally meaningful contribution each year. Board terms are for three years. |

| Additional Info | The BalletRox Board is starting a new long-range strategic planning process, and is in the midst of succession planning. We anticipate hiring an Executive Director within the next 12 months, and replacing the Board Treasurer. This is an exciting time to join our Board! |
