We are committed to improving life opportunities for youth in Boston's Blue Hill Corridor while welcoming a diverse community from the Greater Boston area About Us Sportsmen’s was founded in 1961 as the first indoor non-profit tennis club built in the US by and for the African American community. We are one of the 20 largest organizations in the US that combines tennis with academic and life skills programming for youth under the US Tennis Association (USTA) Foundation's National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) concept created by Arthur Ashe. Our founders saw tennis as a vehicle for youth development and the way to open the door to opportunity. For over six decades, we have channeled the power of sport to improve society and build community. Each year we serve over 5,500 youth and 1,250 adults through transformative programs that include free and low-cost after-school and summer academic support and enrichment; tennis; life-changing health and wellness programs through a partnership with Mass General Brigham; and community building initiatives including our nationally-recognized Volley Against Violence (VAV) program which brings police and youth together to foster mutual respect and understanding. We believe our deep, multifaceted approach is key to elevating families out of poverty. Logo (Column 6/12) Causes * Animals Arts & Culture Children Crisis Response Disaster Relief Education & Out-of-School Time Environment Financial Well-Being Health Housing and Homelessness Hunger Justice System Involved Life Skills Poverty Public Policy and Advocacy Senior Services Social Justice & Equality Veterans & Military Families Workforce Development Youth and Young Adults (Column 6/12) UN SDG * SDG 1 No Poverty SDG 2 Zero Hunger SDG 3 Good Health & Well Being SDG 4 Quality Education SDG 5 Gender Equality SDG 6 Clean Water & Sanitation SDG 7 Renewable Energy SDG 8 Good Jobs & Economic Growth SDG 9 Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure SDG10 Reduce Inequalities SDG11 Sustainable Cities & Communities SDG12 Responsible Consumption SDG13 Climate Action SDG14 Life Below Water SDG15 Life on Land SDG16 Peace & Justice SDG17 Partnerships for the Goals (Column Endpoint) Location Submit
