Our board

The Tutor Now Board of Directors will fulfill the legal and fiduciary obligations or the organization. This includes governance, fundraising, finance and DEI.

Position

The board member responsible for finance should have experience in budgeting, real estate, investments, operating a business, banking, accounting (specific knowledge of nonprofit accounting and generally accepting accounting practices) in order to provide overall guidance in the area of financial planning and resource utilization.

Donation Organization strives for 100% board giving, but have no strict guidelines around financial contributions.
Requirements

Directors should have recognized leadership in education, nonprofit sector, or philanthropy.


Ideal candidates should have the following qualifications:
• A commitment to and understanding of Tutor Now’s mission;
• A commitment to supporting and promoting a diverse organization that is representative of the
population we serve;
• Diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships among diverse individuals;
• Personal qualities of integrity, accountability and a passion for improving the lives of Boston’s youth.

On-boarding

Directors will be onboarded over 3 months with a bi-weekly training program.

Tutor Now is a nonprofit writing, tutoring, and publishing organization where students in grades K-12 and beyond can share their stories, amplify their voices, and develop as leaders in school and in life.
